An exhibition of draft projects for a future monument to Apple founder Steve Jobs opened in St. Petersburg on Monday, a spokeswoman for the project’s organizer said.

A competition to select a Steve Jobs monument project was announced on July 23. A total of 25 projects have made it into the final.

"We have opened an exhibition of 25 works that were selected for the final,” the spokeswoman said, adding that it will be opened at least until September 6.

The winner will be chosen by a jury of St. Petersburg IT experts and by an online vote.

Soon after Jobs’s death on October 5, 2011, a bronze monument to him was unveiled in Budapest, Hungary, while the tiny Brazilian town of Jundiai near Sao Paulo named a street after him.

The city hall of the Ukrainian city of Odessa also announced plans to unveil a monument to the late Apple founder. The two-meter, hand-shaped steel memorial has a hole in the center in the shape of the Apple's trademark logo. The 200-kg sculpture will be installed near the student hostel and lit up in the evenings, the city’s authorities said.
