The search for the second flight recorder of the Russian Sukhoi Superjet-100 airplane that crashed in Indonesia is continuing despite reports to the contrary, a spokeswoman for the United Aircraft Corporation said on Monday.
The search group was reduced, but is still operating in the area outside Jakarta where the jet slammed into a mountain during a demonstration flight on May 9, killing all 45 on board, Olga Kayukova said on Twitter.
The state-owned United Aircraft Corporation is the owner of Sukhoi, the jet’s developer.
Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said earlier on Monday that it is wrapping up the operation and pulling out its 84 staff.
More than 700 people were involved in the search operation, during which rescuers retrieved all bodies and one of two flight recorders. It remained immediately unclear how many rescuers will continue the search for the missing “black box.”
