The former city manager of Stavropol in southern Russia, who was detained on graft charges, has been expelled from the ruling United Russia party, the organization’s regional chapter said on Thursday.
Igor Bestuzhy, who is suspected of receiving a 50 million ruble bribe, lost his party membership card for “causing damage to the party interests.”
Bestuzhev’s criminal case has been cited among the reasons for the dismissal of Stavropol Region Governor Valery Gayevsky.
