Russia’s White Ribbon opposition movement will on May 7, the day of Vladimir Putin’s inauguration as president, hold a flashmob rally following the route of the president’s cortege, activists said in a message on Saturday.

The flashmob, called White City for Fair Power is expected to attract about 1,000 people. “We will not have any placards in our hands, only white ribbons pinned to our clothes,” the message said.

White ribbons have been adopted by protesters in Russia as a sign of their discontent after what they say were rigged parliamentary elections in December.

Participants are also considering using an alternative route inside Moscow’s Garden Ring that will not cross the path of Putin’s motorcade.

Because the event will be held in the form of a flashmob, organizers do not need permission from city authorities.

On the Facebook page of the event, more than 800 people have already said that will attend. Another 200 say they may attend.

Moscow city has permitted the May 6 March of Millions, protesting the results of parliamentary and presidential elections. The event will include a march from Kaluzhskaya Square and a demonstration on Bolotnaya Square, Moscow deputy regional security chief Vasily Oleynik said on Thursday.
