Russia and the United Kingdom reached a “significant breakthrough” in bilateral extradition agreements as London extradited four people charged with serious crimes to Moscow, Russia’s top prosecutor said.
“For the first time ever in the history of our inter-state relations, the U.K. agreed to extradite four people accused of serious crimes to Russia. This is an unprecedented event,” Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said.
He said that Britain remains “closed” to extradition requests not only from Russia but other states as well.
He also called the return of stolen property from abroad another major achievement of Russian prosecutors.
