A nurse in Russia's Siberian Tomsk region mistakenly gave ten doses of a tuberculosis vaccine instead of a single injection of measles vaccine to a seven-year-old girl who was later hospitalized with a severe allergy, regional investigators said on Wednesday.
Regional investigators became involved in the case after media in Tomsk published information that a school nurse in the village of Melnikovo (64 kilometers from Tomsk) had mistakenly injected a full ampule (ten doses) of tuberculosis vaccine instead of the measles vaccine.
There is no information on the schoolgirl's condition.
The nurse has acknowledged her guilt. She may face up to five years behind the bars over negligence.
