Russia is becoming increasingly concerned at the number of Russian nationals being brought to trial in the United States, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday.

Russia is becoming increasingly concerned at the number of Russian nationals being brought to trial in the United States, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday.

"We never tire of pointing out to U.S. representatives the inadmissibility of a situation where a whole range of Russian nationals fall victim to the U.S. judiciary and American judicial procedures on an extraterritorial basis," Ryabkov told a meeting of the Russian lower house of parliament's foreign affairs committee.

The U.S. is using its legal system to "achieve certain goals," Ryabkov said.

"It's not about the charges, but about the manner in which such cases are being conducted," he went on. "There has been no proper reaction to our requests."

"Our patience is running out," he went on.

Ryabkov said Russia would try to overturn the conviction of Russian cargo pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was found guilty of drug trafficking at a New York court in April, and that "certain measures will be taken shortly."

Yaroshenko will be sentenced next month.
