Four people rescued from snow avalanche in Russia's North Caucasus

Four people were rescued after they were buried under a snow avalanche in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.

Four people were rescued after they were buried under a snow avalanche in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, local emergencies ministry's department said on Friday.

The rescue department received information about four people trapped in a snow avalanche near the village of Ansokh of the republic's Tsuntinsky district at 22.50 Moscow time (19.50 GMT) on Thursday.

One man was saved immediately and two more after several hours, a spokesman for the emergencies department said.

"At about 1.20 Moscow time on Friday [22.20 GMT Thursday] the fourth victim of the avalanche was found and rescued," he added.

The rescue efforts involved some 400 residents of a nearby village as well as firefighters and rescuers.
