The International Sustainable Energy Development Center will present a global system to monitor Russia's international energy cooperation at the opening of the Russia Day at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai on Tuesday.

"The monitoring system is a unique development by ISEDC experts that will make it possible to make the most effective forecasts and analyze the entire range of Russia's possible energy cooperation in the context of global tendencies and demands," ISEDC head Vladimir Kalamanov said on Sunday at a meeting with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova.

Besides this, Kalamanov said, the center's experts are completing a large-scale project to create a roadmap of Russia's international cooperation in the energy sphere on the order of the Russian Energy Ministry.

"We are set for making our efforts more active, including through more intense interaction with international organizations, including UNESCO," he said.

"We also intend to more actively develop the scientific-expert, analytical and education activities of the center," he said.

The ISEDC has existed since September 2008 in line with an agreement between the Russian government and UNESCO. It has the status of a category 2 center under UNESCO auspices.

The center's key tasks include the development of science, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

The 2010 World Expo is being held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31, 2010. Over 200 states, corporations and international organization take part in the Expo. Over 48 million people have visited the event since its opening and over 5 million of them have come to the Russian pavilion.
