Atlant-Soyuz, an airline controlled by the Moscow city government, is considering the possibility of buying about 30 Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger jets, a company source said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - Atlant-Soyuz, an airline controlled by the Moscow city government, is considering the possibility of buying about 30 Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger jets, a company source said on Wednesday.

An offer had been made by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, the Superjet 100 manufacturer, the source said.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft confirmed making the offer.

"Talks are underway. This is about some 30 airplanes," the source said.

On the possible purchase of An-148 and An-158 planes the Atlant-Soyuz had planned to buy from their Voronezh manufacturer, the source said their price was "unjustifiably high."

The Superjet 100 is a family of medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi in cooperation with U.S. and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace and Honeywell.

The aircraft is capable of carrying 75-95 passengers up to 4,500 kilometers.

The company plans to manufacture at least 700 Superjet 100s, and intends to sell 35% of them to North America, 25% to Europe, 10% to Latin America, and 7% to Russia and China.

Currently, Sukhoi has at least 122 firm orders for Superjet 100 airliners. The first aircraft are expected to be delivered to Armenia's national airline Armavia and Russia's flagship air carrier Aeroflot by the end of the year.
