The donkey from southern Russia forced to parasail as an advertising stunt will spend the next month at the Kremlin stables near Moscow and then settle in the United Kingdom, Russian media reported on Tuesday.
On July 15, Anapka was forced to parasail along a beach on the Sea of Azov for half an hour to promote paragliding. The donkey was braying with fear and children were crying.
The donkey's landing saw it dragged several meters along the water, after which the trembling animal was pulled out half-alive onto the shore.
The incident drew the attention of prominent human rights activists, including French actress Brigitte Bardot. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets daily, the actress complained to President Dmitry Medvedev of animal cruelty.
Anapka will soon become a neighbor of presidential escort horses and will be fed a special diet. The donkey will undergo training at the hippodrome and undergo massage therapy, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper said.
After the treatment, Anapka will go to the United Kingdom. The Sun and Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp said earlier that they intended to purchase the donkey. Redknapp plans to open an animal asylum in Hampshire where Anapka may find a new home.
