Russia's Innovation Center of Skolkovo, President Dmitry Medvedev's pet project, and Boeing signed an agreement to formalize its participation in the Skolkovo Innocity project, the company said on Friday.

Russia's Innovation Center of Skolkovo, President Dmitry Medvedev's pet project, and Boeing signed an agreement to formalize its participation in the Skolkovo Innocity project, the company said on Friday.

Under the agreement, Boeing, together with Russia's engineering services company Progresstech and information technology company Luxoft, will set up a division of Boeing's Moscow Design Center at Skolkovo outside Moscow where nearly 300 IT specialists, engineers and researchers will work to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes programs.

The agreement was signed during Medvedev's visit to the United States this week.

Boeing will also participate in Skolkovo Technology University, sharing Boeing training programs on design and project management methods, implementation of quality control techniques and Lean-based approaches to enterprise modernization.

Medvedev wants to make the high-tech preserve of Skolkovo a focus of foreign investor interest which would steer foreign money away from oil and gas.

"We want global technological leaders to do more of their research and development projects at Skolkovo," said Viktor Vekselberg, the head Russia's Renova Group of companies appointed as the president of Skolkovo Innovation Center project.

Boeing has two centers located in Moscow. The Technical Research Center develops projects related to technology including new materials, prototyping, and aerodynamics. The Boeing Design Center supports all major Boeing Commercial Airplanes programs.
