Fugitive Russian businessman Yevgeny Chichvarkin, speaking by phone to a rally in central Moscow on Wednesday, called on the government not to inhibit business.
The rally, which highlighted the problems experienced by businessmen across Russia, was organized by the pro-Kremlin Pravoye Delo (Right Cause) party to mark the Day of the Businessman.
"In order to run a business, it's necessary that no one meddles in the business, and it's necessary that the government keeps its hands out from where they don't belong," Chichvarkin said.
Chichvarkin, the former CEO of cell phone retailer Euroset, who is wanted in Russia on abduction charges, spoke from his home in London, where he has been residing for almost a year.
The businessman was a member of the Moscow branch of the Pravoye Delo party before he fled the country.
Chichvarkin also spoke against the planned replacement of uniform social tax with insurance payments.
