Russia's annual inflation rate should be lowered to a level of no more than 5-6 %, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said.
"We have the lowest rate of inflation in 18 years, 8.8% [2009]. It is a significant achievement for us. It continues to slow, so we need to stop this tendency and achieve at least a level of 5-6%," Putin said.
Vladimir Putin is giving an annual address on the government's work to the lower chamber of the Russian parliament. Under the Russian Constitution, the government is obliged to deliver annual reports to the State Duma.
