Four crew members of the Tu-204 plane, which crash-landed near a Moscow airport earlier on Monday, were hospitalized with various injuries, the Moscow Region's emergencies service said.

Eight crew members were onboard the aircraft en route from the Egyptian resort of Hurghada, when it apparently performed a belly landing.

"During the emergency landing, four crew members were injured. They were hospitalized with various injuries," the source said.

Russia's air transportation agency, Rosaviatsiya, said two people sustained serious injuries.

The plane was performing a landing in the Domodedovo Airport in poor weather conditions with limited visibility when it went off radars approximately one km (0.6 miles) from the runway.

The search and rescue team found the damaged aircraft in woodland near the airport and evacuated the crew.

A committee was set up to investigate the cause of the accident.

The Domodedovo Airport's press service earlier said nine people were onboard the plane.

This is the second emergency situation involving a plane owned by the Aviastar-TU passenger and cargo charter airline in the past 24 hours.

A police source told RIA Novosti that another Tu-204 plane, en route to Hurghada, left Domodedovo on 4:00 Sunday, but had to return to Moscow two hours later after smoke was detected in the cabin. Later, it resumed its flight.

The airport's press service had no immediate information on whether it was the same aircraft.
