Ivan Mironov, the son of former Russian Press and Information Minister Ivan Mironov, will be released later today "on personal guarantees from State Duma [parliament] deputies."
She said her son had taken part in the court session via a video conference call from a Moscow pretrial detention center. The suspect has not been acquitted of the crime, and may face further hearings.
The assassination attempt took place near Moscow on March 17, 2005. A bomb exploded as Chubais' car was passing, and his vehicle subsequently was fired on with automatic weapons. Chubais was not hurt in the attack.
In mid-June, the Moscow Region Court acquitted three suspects in the assassination attempt. The court issued a ruling based on the jury's not-guilty verdict of June 5.
Colonel Vladimir Kvachkov, a former General Staff member, and two former paratroopers - Alexander Naidenov and Robert Yashin - were released from custody following the reading of the verdict.
According to prosecutors, the defendants were motivated by their extremist views and a violent dislike of Chubais, an architect of economic reforms in the 1990s that impoverished millions and handed vast fortunes to a handful of well-connected oligarchs.
