MOSCOW, December 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russian energy giant Gazprom will buy 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas at $65 per 1,000 cu m from Turkmenistan in 2006, the company said Thursday.

"Turkmenistan has surplus natural gas at the moment, and its delivery terms have not been coordinated," a Gazprom news release said. "Therefore the sides have agreed to increase gas supplies to Gazprom in 2006 up to 30 billion metric tons, including 15 billion in the first quarter."

During a recent working visit to Turkmenistan, Gazprom Chief Executive Alexei Miller met with President Saparmurat Niyazov to discuss bilateral cooperation in the gas sector in 2006 and afterward.

The terms and conditions for 2007 and the subsequent years will be established in the second half of 2006, in accordance with the current contract until 2028, the concern said.
