MOSCOW, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow feels that the domestic situation in a number of former Soviet states should not be changed by revolutions with foreign backers, Chief of the Russian General Staff Yury Baluyevsky said Thursday.

"We cannot agree with [our] American counterparts [on this issue]," he said.

He also condemned the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe for turning into a surveillance organization.

Baluyevsky said the OSCE was overseeing the observation of democratic principles in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

"The United States is more or less involved in these processes," he said.

Baluyevsky said the CIS member states had the right to determine their destiny without foreign influence. He also pointed to Russia's right to defend its interests in the post-Soviet space.
