GROZNY, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Two Interior Ministry soldiers were killed and two wounded in the night during a special operation in southeast Chechnya, a spokesman said Monday morning.
The representative of the local police said militants had opened fire on the soldiers during an operation to apprehend them. Police detained the owner of the house where the militants were hiding to check his involvement in illegal militant groups.
In a separate development, two servicemen were killed and four wounded in a mudslide in southern Chechnya Sunday.
"The accident happened near the village of Zony, where the servicemen were conducting an engineer terrain intelligence operation," a police spokesman said.
According to the source, a mudslide swept a truck carrying servicemen into the river Argun, killing two men. Four others were hospitalized, he said.
