Fadeyev replaced by his first deputy Yakunin on Russian Railways president post

MOSCOW, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - President of the Russian Railways open joint stock company (RZD) Gennady Fadeyev, 68, was relieved of this post and appointed aide to the Russian prime minister.

Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a relevant order, government spokesman Denis Molchanov said on Wednesday.

RZD First Vice President Vladimir Yakunin, 57, was appointed new Russian Railways president.

Fadeyev was born on April 10, 1937. He was Russian railways minister in 1992-1996. After that he was appointed secretary general of the International Coordination Council for the Trans-Siberian Transportation. In 1999-2002 Fadeyev headed the Moscow Railway.

In January 2002 Fadeyev became Russian railways minister again. On September 22, 2003 he was relieved of the post by the Russian Federation government and appointed President of the Russian Railways open joint stock company (RZD).

Yakunin hold the post of Russian deputy transportation minister since 2000 and that of first deputy railways minister since October 2002. He was appointed RZD first vice president for economy and corporate development on October 24, 2003 by the Russian Railways board.
