Nicolas Sarkozy: All for France, What for Europe?

Nicolas Sarkozy: All for France, What for Europe?

Former French leader Nicolas Sarkozy announced that he will seek his political comeback next year during the presidential election, debuting his decision in his new book “All for France” which adopts a tough line on immigration, Islamism, and other issues at the core of the pan-European debate over the future of the EU.

Nicolas Sarkozy aims to make his return on the back of Hollande’s persistent unpopularity and the raft of problems afflicting France such as the several high-profile terrorist attacks that happened since he left office and the contentious discussions on French identity. Sarkozy is positioning himself as the experienced, conservative candidate who can get things done and restore the country’s stability, but his talk about less integration and more national sovereignty within the EU is making a lot of people in Brussels nervous.

To discuss this topic in more detail we were joined by Victor Mizin, Vice President of the Institute of Strategic Assessments (studio guest); Gino Raymond, Professor of Modern French Studies at the University of Bristol (UK); and Dmitry Yakushkin, independent expert, author of “Paris stories”.
