Museums are museums and there is a great variety of them to cater to every taste. In this edition of “Looking Forward” hosts Marina Dzhashi and a prominent Russian writer Victor Erofeyev are talking about museums and what do they do in order to survive in this changing world. Joining the discussion is Alexandra Danilova, curator of contemporary arts projects at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and Olga Sinitsyna, an independent art expert and critic.

The very word “museum” has a connotation of retaining and keeping something. But they too have to adjust to the demands of the modern times’ reality, in order to continue attracting visitors, and especially the younger ones, because visitors mean income. And here you have to carefully balance between staying a museum and trying to find new ways of communication with people, because you need to go with the times.

Those people who love art, they don’t need to be urged to go and see something. For the rest of the people, to get them attracted the nowadays museums have multimedia, 3D-exhibitions, educational programs and projects’ curators that will help to marry the picture with the audience. So, is it really good or bad for a museum to become something like an entertainment center?
