WASHINGTON, November 19 (Sputnik) — US Vice President Joe Biden will discuss Russia's fulfillment of the Minsk agreement along with Ukrainian government reforms during his visit to Kiev on November 21, senior US administration official stated.
"The Vice President will discuss I'm sure at length concerns that all of us have regarding Russia's ongoing violations of the September 5 Minsk Agreement with Ukraine," a White House official said Tuesday while outlining Biden's agenda, adding that Biden "will also chair a roundtable on anti-corruption and rule-of-law reforms."
The Vice President will also meet with Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk to discuss issues related to governance in the country, according to the statement.
Biden will chair a roundtable discussion on Friday, focused on anti-corruption and rule of law reforms, during which he will emphasize to Ukraine's leaders the need for quickly forming a new government in order to implement such measures, the high-ranking official added.
The United States and its allies have introduced several rounds of sanctions against Russia for meddling in Ukraine's internal affairs, allegations which Moscow has repeatedly denied. A ceasefire between the warring sides was agreed upon at a meeting of the so-called Contact Group on Ukraine comprising representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) held in Minsk on September 5.
In late October, Ukraine held elections for its legislative body, the results of which Poroshenko said would produce a government that could implement anti-corruption reform measures.
