KIEV, October 26 (RIA Novosti) – Nearly one third of 112 foreign polls for early elections in Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) started to operate, with Australia being the first country where Ukrainians voted, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Sunday.

"As of 8 a.m. local time (06:00 GMT), when the voting started in Ukraine, 34 out of 112 polling stations have opened abroad," the statement said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Ukrainians staying in Australia were the first to vote.

The polls have opened for Ukrainians to vote in 424 members of parliament — 225 of them from party lists and 199 in single-candidate constituencies. The electoral threshold is 5 percent.

The last election took place in October 2012. On August 26 Poroshenko dissolved the Verkhovna Rada and declared an early parliamentary vote, saying that the composition of the parliament, elected under the presidency of ousted Viktor Yanukovych, was no longer relevant to the existing political situation.
