KIEV, October 25 (RIA Novosti) – The electronic system "Elections" that calculates the votes operates as usual, the press service of Ukraine's Central Election Commission told RIA Novosti Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the statement published on the website of Ukrainian Prosecutor General Vitaly Yarema said the calculation of votes during Ukrainian parliament elections will be conducted manually due to a breakdown of electronic system "Elections" and Central Election Commission website.
"Information-analytical system Elections is operating as usual and we hope to get all the preliminary results [of Ukraine's parliamentary elections] not later than Wednesday evening or Thursday morning," the press officer for Ukraine's Central Election Commission Konstantin Hivrenko said.
Ukrainians will vote in early parliamentary elections on Sunday, October 26.
Under the Ukrainian Constitution, its unicameral parliament, called the Verkhovna Rada, is the sole legislative authority in Ukraine.
A total of 29 political parties are expected to take part in the Verkhovna Rada election. Petro Poroshenko Bloc, backed by the incumbent president, is considered to be the undisputed leader, with an approval rating of about 25 percent.
Ukrainians will vote for the parliament's 424 members: 225 of them are to be elected by party lists, and 199 by single-seat constituencies.
