MOSCOW, October 24 (RIA Novosti) – British Prime Minister David Cameron demanded urgent talks with the European Ministers of Finance, following the claim from the European Commission for UK to increase its input in the EU budget by 2.1 billion euro (more than $2.66 billion), the prime minister’s spokesperson told journalists Friday.

The spokesperson said that Cameron broke off the EU Summit in Brussels to express his outrage with the European Commission’s proposal. UK prime minister told the Commission’s chairman Jose Manuel Barroso that he has no idea how the British people will take such news.

Earlier during the EU Summit the European Commission representative said that increasing British input in the EU budget would be just. "Britain's contribution reflects an increase in wealth, just as in Britain you pay more to the Inland Revenue if your earnings go up,” said the Commission spokesperson Patrizio Fiorilli. France and Germany were also asked to increase their input into the EU budget.

At the moment, UK’s contribution to the common European budget amounts to some $13.8 billion.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron repeatedly stated the European Union needs urgent reforms. He promised to hold a referendum on continuing the British membership in the EU if the Conservatives win the 2015 elections and he remains prime minister.
