MINSK, August 26 (RIA Novosti) – A meeting of the contact group for Ukrainian reconciliation, involving Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), may take place in Minsk on Wednesday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday.

“It was suggested that the group convenes as soon as possible. [Ukrainian President] Petro Poroshenko wants this meeting to take place as soon as tomorrow,” the Belarusian leader told reporters after the Customs Union-Ukraine-EU meeting in the Belarusian capital.

The Trilateral Contact Group on the Ukrainian crisis comprises former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, Russia’s ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov and the OSCE representatives.

Last month, the envoys from Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE met in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, with representatives of independence supporters from eastern regions of Ukraine to discuss steps toward the truce in the Ukrainian standoff. Previous rounds of trilateral talks were held in June.
