BERLIN, August 17 (RIA Novosti) - The foreign ministers of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine have met at the Villa Borsig in Berlin, where the talks on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict are being held, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the ministers gathered in Berlin in order "to try to make steps towards a ceasefire." Success cannot be guaranteed, but such an opportunity for consultations should still be used, Steinmeier said.

The four ministers walked around the park in the residence. Consultations are to begin at a working dinner, and then the parties will proceed to negotiations.

This is the second time the four countries have held negotiations on the situation in Ukraine in this format. On July 2, Sergei Lavrov, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Laurent Fabius and Pavlo Klimkin met in Berlin. Following the results of the two-hour negotiations, the four came up with a joint declaration strongly reconfirming their commitment to sustainable peace and stability in Ukraine.
