MOSCOW, July 23 (RIA Novosti) - French Socialist Party Leader Jean-Christophe Cambadelis has condemned British Prime Minister David Cameron, who has urged to impose new sanctions against Russia, while at the same time being unwilling to sever close ties with Russian tycoons in the UK, the Financial Times reported Wednesday.

“This is an insincere debate made by hypocrites,” The Financial Times quoted Cambadelis as commenting on David Cameron’s dual-standard thinking.

Earlier, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has made a similar statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Britain is to continue arms supplies to Russia, despite the fact it was sharply criticizing Paris for its plans to sell Mistral ships to Russia.

The United States and the European Union have been accusing Russia of meddling with Ukraine’s internal affairs, and have already introduced targeted sanctions against a number of Russian officials and companies. The Western sanctions have been extending gradually since their initial introduction after Russia’s reunification with Crimea.

The European Commission is expected to introduce a new package of sanctions targeting Russia’s financial and defense sectors on July 24.

Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly called the language of sanctions counterproductive and said these measures would have a boomerang effect on European economies.
