MOSCOW, April 29 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian government has implemented some 73 percent of presidential decrees issued by Vladimir Putin last May, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday.

Putin swapped jobs with Medvedev last May, and tasked the government with 218 assignments, including 67 ones scheduled to be carried out within the next seven years.

“One hundred and ten decrees have been fulfilled as scheduled,” a report prepared for Medvedev’s meeting with his deputies on Monday said, adding that that figure represents 73 percent of the total set to be implemented from 2012 to 2013.

Over that period, the government has passed 29 national laws, and submitted 25 more bills that are still under consideration in the State Duma. It has also contributed to four presidential decrees and approved some 60 programs, strategies, projects and roadmaps.

“In any case, the pace should not slow down, and control over the progress of orders should be as strict as possible,” Medvedev said on Monday at a meeting with deputy prime ministers.

Speculation in the Russian media about possible Cabinet dismissals has been mounting amid rumors of the Cabinet’s inefficiency since Medvedev traded the presidency for the premiership with Putin in May 2012.

Putin said Thursday during a Q&A conference that he is satisfied with the government’s work in terms of carrying out presidential decrees.
