WASHINGTON, October 24 (RIA Novosti)
Calling US President Barack Obama the “least transparent president in the history of this country,” American celebrity businessman Donald Trump on Wednesday promised to donate $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice if the American leader releases his college and passport records.
Trump made the offer to Obama on a video linked to Facebook and Twitter, and it came after several days of promising a major revelation about Obama.
This is the latest salvo in the real estate mogul’s attempts to portray the US president as being less than forthcoming with the American people.
Trump, host of the popular reality television show “The Apprentice,” had previously criticized the president for failing to release his long-form birth certificate, joining a chorus of right-wing critics who suggested Obama had perhaps not been born in the United States—thus disqualifying him for the presidency.
State officials in Hawaii had repeatedly confirmed that the president was born in the island state’s capital, Honolulu. After Obama, whose father was a native of Kenya, released the long-form birth certificate last year again confirming his place of birth, he repeatedly teased Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner in April 2011.
In his video announcement Wednesday, Trump said that if Obama’s college applications and records, as well as his passport records, are released by 5 p.m. on October 31, he will send a $5 million check to a charity of the president’s choice “within an hour.”
