Live flowers are being arranged near the Kremlin wall opposite the central entrance to the Main Department Store (GUM) in Moscow.
A 4,000 square meter flower carpet will be completed on July 18 as part of a flower festival to commemorate GUM’s 120th anniversary.
Nearly 700,000 flowers in 29 shades of yellow, red, blue and green were grown especially for the festival.
According to the organizers, the festival will rival a botanical garden in terms of its floral diversity, featuring white moon petunias, lemon marigolds, scarlet sages, coleuses, garden lobelias, and blue weeds.

With open-air jazz concerts to be held each of the six days of the festival, visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy free live music against the backdrop of living flowers.

The festival will take place from July 18 to 23. Admission is free. Concerts will be held from 8 to 11 pm.
