The frigate Pallada sailing the Pacific

The Russian sailing ship Pallada is completing an international transpacific expedition. More than 100 sea cadets from the Primorye and Kamchatka Territories sailing onboard the Pallada have called at seven Canadian and U.S. ports, including Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Honolulu.

It took the frigate three days to cover the 120-mile distance from Victoria to Seattle. The Pallada is moored at Seattle’s Pier 66, affording a beautiful view of the city.

The wind quickly and easily filled the Pallada’s sails as the long-awaited port of San Francisco beckoned just beyond the horizon.
