The Russian training vessel Pallada set sail on an international trans-Pacific expedition on July 1, 2011. The expedition is in honor of the 50th anniversary of Yury Gagarin’s first space flight, and the 270th anniversary of the discovery of Russian America by Russian sailors.

Along with the crew, in attendance at the departure ceremony at a port in Vladivostok were family and friends of the cadets, the heads of the Federal Agency for Fishery and the Far Eastern Technical Fishing University, and several guests of honor.
