12 tons of garbage turned into a hotel

A hotel made entirely out of garbage, designed and built by German conceptual artist Hans Schult, opened on January 20 on Plaza del Callao in the center of Madrid.

The creators of the project want to draw the attention of the public to the ever-growing problem of environmental pollution. Photo: “If we don’t do anything, tomorrow your vacation will be like this,” reads the explanation by the hotel.

You can find parts of dummies, plastic bottles, cans and broken clocks. The hotel’s outer walls are plastered with all sort of garbage.

Several days before the hotel’s opening, the project organizers started taking reservations online from those wishing to spend a night in the building. The hotel promises an unforgettable experience to the daring guests.
