In 2000, the car was named the best Russian car of the 20th century after a national poll conducted by the Za Rulyom (At the Wheel) motoring magazine. From 1970 to 1983, the plant rolled out nearly 3 million of these cars.

In 2000, the car was named the best Russian car of the 20th century after a national poll conducted by the Za Rulyom (At the Wheel) motoring magazine. From 1970 to 1983, the plant rolled out nearly 3 million of these cars.
