This ancient holiday is celebrated when the indigenous peoples of Kamchatka finish their summer and autumn work. They are not only giving their thanks to the forest and the rivers, but also ask the spirits of killed animals for forgiveness for having to kill them. The ceremony includes a cleansing rite, when everyone goes through a hoop made of birch tree twigs, and the installation of a wooden idol (photo).
