RUSSIA AND INDONESIA SIGN AGREEMENT ON MUTUAL PROTECTION OF SECRET INFORMATION

JAKARTA, September 15 (RIA Novosti's Mikhail Tsyganov). First deputy director of the Russian Federal Security Service Sergei Smirnov signed an inter-governmental agreement on mutual protection of secret information with Indonesia on Thursday.

On behalf of Indonesia the document was signed

by deputy defense ministry of the country major-general Aklani Masa.

This is a very important document for the defense ministry of Indonesia, which will help expand military-technical cooperation between our countries, he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In his turn, the head of the Russian delegation told RIA Novosti that the "last obstacle in the development of military-technical cooperation between the two countries was liquidated.

In the course of consultations held in Jakarta, Russia confirmed its readiness to cooperate in all directions determined by the military-technical cooperation agreement, Smirnov continued.

The Indonesian side agreed with the proposal of the Russian side on the elaboration of cooperation plans for the short-term and long-term prospects, he concluded.

While staying in Indonesia Smirnov met with head of the Indonesian state intelligence department lieutenant-general (Ret.) Abdullah Hendropriyono, visited defense industry enterprises of the country and a new anti-terrorist center of the Indonesian police in the city of Semarang.
