VOLGOGRAD, MARCH 5, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI). A WWII 100kg bomb was found in Volgograd.
The city's emergency ministry office reported that the bomb was found by workers when they conducted digging work in the Krasno-Oktyabrsky district of Volgograd.
The bomb was under the earth for more than 60 years, had a fuse without a charge and was not dangerous for people. The workers also found a combat artillery shell in the same trench, which the sappers took away for destruction.
A myth was dispelled during the battle of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) at the end of 1943-the beginning of 1944 about the invincibility of the German fascist troops. It is from the banks of the Volga River that liberation of the Soviet territory began.
