Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii earned universal praise when she resigned her post as Vice Chair of the DNC and fully endorse Bernie Sanders’ primary campaign, but in the wake of the WikiLeaks revelations did she ever have a choice?

The DNC has long denied claims by the Sanders’ campaign that it was supporting Hillary Clinton’s primary campaign in violation of Democratic Party rules that prohibit officials from taking sides in the middle of an election for the party’s nomination. Yet, one member of the DNC, former Vice Chair Tulsi Gabbard, felt it necessary to remove herself from her post in order to support Bernie Sanders.

On Friday, WikiLeaks exposed the Democratic Party’s rank corruption and intentional efforts to plant stories in the media to sabotage the Bernie Sanders movement. Going full on “I’m With Her” party officials engaged in plots to attack the insurgent firebrand on the basis of his ethnicity and religion while planting seeds that the candidate had lost control of his campaign and that his supporters were violent.

The leaks also almost fantastically show that the DNC had an implied agreement to funnel money to Hillary’s campaign during the primary, both in violation of Democratic Party rules and in gross violation of federal campaign finance laws.

Hillary’s campaign manager actually wrote to the DNC "Today I am sending you the following checks made out to the DNC that should be counted towards the convention fund."

A May 5 email, sent by the DNC’s CFO Brad Marshall to the Democratic Party’s communications director read: "It might make no difference, but for [Kentucky] and [West Virginia] can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist."

The response from his co-conspirator was a simple "Amen."

The most appalling accusation lobbed against the Sanders camp – that his supporters turned violent at the Nevada State Convention after having their votes suppressed by Nevada Democratic Party Chair Roberta Lange – also proved to be a DNC planted fabrication.

In a message to vaunted Nevada political reporter John Ralston, who took the spoon-fed line and ran with it, the DNC communications director warned the journalist "Let’s get this around without attribution" – in other words, don’t let anybody know the DNC was behind the false claim.

Now the Democratic Party calls for unity after it has been exposed that there was a coordinated effort to sabotage one of the candidates for the benefit of another. A leading social media commentator and well-known Bernie Sanders supporter Jeanette Verdista said: "#DNCLeaks exposure of conspiracy to push [Hillary] and sabotage Bernie puts @TulsiGabbard’s resignation in perspective."

The culture of the Party was to malign, insult, and mock the rank-and-file members of the Party who did not prefer the establishment’s hand selected choice. Whether or not Tulsi Gabbard was formally pushed to resign or made that choice on her own, it is clear that her choice to stand with the people would not be tolerated long by Democratic leadership.

Bernie Sanders campaign manager has responded to the emails by once again calling for the ouster of Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the Chair of the DNC and saying that they are "reviewing the emails." Whether or not the progressive wunderkind pulls his endorsement from the floor of the Democratic convention after evidence that the race was stolen from him remains to be seen.
