MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russia does not have any information on why the protocol of the Berlin Meeting on Ukraine is still unpublished, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday.
“All of the formulations, I won’t let out any big secret, have probably been attached to the project’s protocol that we wanted to sign in Berlin a week ago. From my side, all of the proposals that the German initiators of the meeting agreed upon on paper were supported. So I don’t know why these agreements are still unpublished, some sort of delay has occurred,” Lavrov said during a briefing.
On July 2 in Berlin the ministers of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France reached an agreement on keeping under control those crossing points that are out of control of Kiev authorities.
The second four-party meeting in Berlin was held on August 17. Sergei Lavrov and his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin, together with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, discussed the possibility to put an end to the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
During August 17 meeting the negotiating sides were to lay down mutually acceptable solutions and report the results to the countries’ leaders in order to work out a format suitable for resolving the Ukrainian crisis. After the negotiations, Lavrov mentioned that the bilateral ceasefire must be unconditional, noting that Kiev was constantly trying to impose its own terms for it.
German foreign chief noted that the talks were difficult, but the sides had made certain progress on some points.
