MOSCOW, August 21 (RIA Novosti) - This week, movie producer Timur Bekmambetov ("Night Watch", "Wanted") started shooting his new fantasy-film, "Dragons".

The film is being directed by Indar Dzhendubaev, who is known for having worked as a co-director on a Bekmambetov’s film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".

"I don’t know if such a genre exists, but I would define our film as a fantasy-melodrama," Indar Dzhendubaev says. "It follows a modern, very understandable story about first love, first intimacy, first kiss, which is taking place in a fantasy world. This is a very poetic project; it contains a lot of metaphors and beautiful characters".

The film is based on a book written by Sergey and Marina Dyachenko. It tells the story of a princess named Miroslava, who was kidnapped by a dragon-man from her own wedding. While imprisoned in his castle, she becomes friends with a strange creature called Rukonozhka and little-by-little, falls in love with her abductor.

As m24.ru reports, the "Dragons" are being filmed in Bulgaria – a country well-known for its beautiful natural setting. Much of the film's action takes place in Prohodna cave, which was chosen by the filmmakers due to its unique vault, which features two symmetric openings that resemble eye-pits.

The film stars fashion model Andrei Lykov and a young actress, Maria Poezhaeva. Its release is planned for autumn 2015.
