MOSCOW, March 27 – RIA Novosti. Nine events have been added to the Year of Russia in The Netherlands and Year of The Netherlands in Russia bilateral program, including a concert by Russian pianist Denis Matsuev in Amsterdam, a festival of chamber music in Maastricht and an exhibition of modern Russian sculpture in The Hague, RIA Novosti learned from the secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, chair of the exchange year’s organizing committee.

Since February, events aimed at promoting partnership and opening up new areas of cooperation have been held in both countries. For the first six months, the majority of them will be held in the Netherlands. These include a business forum and exhibitions from Russia’s Hermitage Museum. In the summer, the focus will shift to Russia. In June, the Netherlands will be a guest of honor at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The new events on the program are all cultural events. In addition to an exhibition of sculptures, The Hague will also host a project entitled “Russia Next Door: Art Installation from Kaliningrad.” In Amsterdam, an exhibition of photographs of Soviet and Russian winners of World Press Photo contests will be shown, as well as the “1813: Netherlands Liberated by Russia” exhibition. Utrecht will become the temporary home of an exhibition of icons from the Andrei Rublyov Museum in Moscow, and works by artist Yury Vasilyev will be on display in Haarlem. Music events include a concert of baroque music, to be held as part of the “Peter the Great” exhibition of works from the Hermitage Museum.
