KAMCHATKA, September 23 (RIA Novosti) — During the Vostok-2014 exercise a division of S-300PS surface-to-air missile systems has conducted shooting drills from particularly difficult conditions - launches were made in pursuit on Tuesday, the head of the lead training center for the Russian Armed Forces Lt.Gen. Ivan Buvaltsev told journalists.
"When shooting in pursuit the time needed to target a missile in the impact zone is no more than a minute. At the same time, the decision has to be made in no more than 15 seconds, in which the target must be detected, identified and destroyed, " Buvaltsev said.
The Vostok-2014 strategic military exercise in the Eastern Military District is taking place from September 19 to 25. The exercise was preceded by unannounced combat readiness checks.
