MOSCOW, September 11 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to assess if the important state bodies in the Russia's Far East are ready to operate in wartime conditions, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Thursday.
The president ordered to check the readiness of regional administrations and state bodies dealing with industry and trade, telecommunications, transport and other vital infrastructure areas "to perform their tasks in wartime conditions," the minister said.
The announcement coincided with combat readiness snap checks for the Eastern Military District.
In August, an unannounced inspection of the combat readiness of the district's forces took place and was successful. The Eastern Military District's coastal troops carried out vehicle marches and practiced air and harbor defense during a coastal defense simulation. The same month the personnel responsible for drone operations practiced their operating skills and planned flight routes above the coast and mainland of Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka peninsula.
