MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) – Israel confirmed it accepts a three-day ceasefire deal in Gaza Strip, which was announced earlier Friday by UN Secretary-General and US Secretary of State, Reuters reported citing a source in Israeli Prime Minister’s office.

"Israel has accepted the US/UN proposal for a 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire beginning 8:00 a.m. (05:00 GMT) Friday," the official was quoted as saying.

Earlier this day, US Secretary of State John Kerry announced during his visit to India that the sides of the conflict agreed on a ceasefire deal starting Friday morning. Hamas has also confirmed that “all the Palestinian factions are united behind the issue in this regard”. The official statement of the Israeli authorities about the humanitarian pause is expected to come right before the truce begins.

This current offensive launched by Israel on July 8 has already claimed lives of more than 1, 400 Palestinians and nearly 60 Israelis, becoming the deadliest conflict in Gaza for the last eight years.
