MOSCOW, May 13 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian Helicopters company is ready to supply additional helicopters to India, Russia’s largest partner on military and technical cooperation, CEO Alexander Mikheyev told reporters Wednesday.

“The Russian Helicopters joint stock company will be ready to continue the program on the supply of Russian helicopters to India under contracts with the state-controlled arms trader Rosoboronexport,” Mikheyev said.

Responding to a question on Kamov Ka-52 helicopters being deployed on Mistral-class helicopter carriers currently being built for Russia by France, Mikheyev said that “the company is ready for this program.”

About 250 Russian-made helicopters are now operating in India, according to the company. Russia has fulfilled its obligations under the contract for the supply of 80 military Mi-17V-5 transport helicopters, concluded between Rosoboronexport and India in 2008. Additional agreements for the supply of 71 more of the helicopters were made in 2012-2013.
