The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operating in Afghanistan denied on Tuesday the loss of a NATO helicopter allegedly shot down by Taliban insurgents in the south of the country.

The Taliban claimed in a statement earlier on Tuesday that its fighters shot down a NATO CH-47 Chinook military transport helicopter in Zabul province, killing all military personnel aboard.

Iranian Press TV later reported a U.S. military helicopter made an emergency landing in Zabul province on Monday.

ISAF spokesman Maj. Adam Wojack confirmed that a Chinook helicopter crash-landed in southern Afghanistan, but all U.S. and Afghan troops aboard survived the incident.

The insurgents often exaggerate success of their attacks on ISAF forces or claim accidental losses of ISAF aircraft as shoot-downs.
