The lower house of Russia's parliament, the State Duma, on Friday ratified intergovernmental agreements with France and Spain on military transits to Afghanistan.
The agreement with France was signed October 7, 2004 in Moscow, and the deal with Spain was signed March 3, 2009 in Madrid.
The documents establish the international legal base for transit of the countries' military cargoes and personnel via Russia's airspace in line with UN Security Council resolutions for operations of the international coalition in Afghanistan.
