WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led air campaign against the Daesh terrorist group hit nine sites in Syria on Monday and seven locations in Iraq, the US Central Command announced in a press release on Tuesday.
"Strike assessments are based on initial reports," the release said. "All aircraft returned to base safely."
In Syria, bomber, fighter, attack and remotely piloted aircraft hit sites near Abu Kamal, Raqqa, Manbij and Palmyra. Targets included tactical units, fighting positions, a tank, two vehicle bombs and ten weapons cache bunkers, the release explained.
In Iraq, the coalition targeted positions near Albu Hayat, Mosul, Ramadi, Sultan Abdallah and Tal Afar, the release noted. The Iraqi strikes destroyed several tactical units, four rocket rails, a command and control node, fighting positions and a mortar system.
